a fantabulous weekend adventure.
Personal
This weekend was amazing.
On Friday, Ash and I celebrated the two year anniversary of our first kiss. I was going to take her out to eat, but she kept complaining that her stomach hurt so I figured we'd just stay in or something. A little while later, she came into the living room all dressed up and told me we should at least get nice clothes on to celebrate. So I went and got dressed and then she said she wanted to go for a drive. By this time, I caught on that she had something planned, so I just went along with it. We got into the car and the next thing I knew we were at the Alamo Drafthouse where she had already bought us tickets for Where the Wild Things Are! I was so excited. I had been planning on bringing her to see the next day since MY date had got postponed, but that's okay, because she is the biggest sweetie ever and I love her. We had dinner there (a yummy supreme pizza) and the movie was fantastic. I such at writing movie reviews, so you'll just have to satisfied with my description of it being THE MOST AMAZING MOVIE EVER. Seriously, I had some pretty steep expectations for this movie, and Mr. Spike Jonze pulled it out fabulously. I couldn't have imagined a better tribute to such an inspiring children's book. I loved it. I want to see it again. I can't wait to buy it.
After the movie, we went home and cuddled on the couch and spent the rest of the night just watching TV together. Saturday morning we went on our usual Saturday excursion of feeding feral cats around the neighborhoods by our house (we volunteer for Central Texas Feline Rescue. Came home for a short time and then I took her out to lunch to Chili's where we had some amazing ribs and their delicious White Chocolate Molten Cake. Ended up going to Verizon afterward so I could look at phones (I'd been comparing the EnV Touch and the Samsung Rogue and the BB Storm so I wanted to actually play with them before I bought anything) and then we headed home. Ash had to run to the carwash to get a few things done, but while she did that, I stayed home and cleaned a bit. That night, we went to a party hosted by the founder of Street Cat Rescue and had a blast meeting people (and lots of cats), listening to live music, eating yummy food, and being absolutely impressed by the house we were at (it was beautiful). Stayed longer than we thought we would, but then came home and crashed.
Yesterday was a good day too. We got up and cleaned the house - we washed dishes, did laundry, vacuumed, and then Ash made us our big Sunday breakfast of bacon and eggs and toast. After that we headed to the Verizon store where we met up with her dad, and I finally got moved over to their plan, got a new phone number, and got myself a shiny new Blackberry Storm. It's pretty and perfect and I love it. Anyway, for those of you who want my new phone # - just comment here and I'll give it to you. I finally got rid of my old Duluth number. It'll still work, but that phone will be my dad's now so you'll just get him and not me.
After we split with her dad, we headed over to the Container Store and bought ice cube trays (because I need ice with my Margaritas!) and then spent a good long time looking at absolutely everything else. That's all we bought though. Then we headed to REI and oh man, it was just torture. We've decided that since it's cooler out now, we want to go camping, but we need to find out how Snarf will deal with sleeping in a tent (we know Spunky is fine camping, he loves it). We ended up buying the book Dog's Best Hikes in Texas Hill Country that has some awesome information about trails and camping areas around Austin. We'll start in our backyard and work our way outward. We also ended up signing up for an REI membership since we'll have to go back once we figure out what camping supplies we still need.
We went home after that and then took the dogs to the park where they acted up. It was a short walk since we were tired and didn't want to deal with them being so rowdy. Otherwise it was nice. The rest of the night was us crashed out on the couch, playing with our Blackberries, and dowloading ringtones. Didn't get to bed till late, but it was a really nice way to wrap up a wonderful weekend. I really wish it hadn't ended.
So that was our fantastic 2 Year Anniversary Weekend. Happy 2 years, Sunshine! I love you!
