8:51 am,
a fantabulous weekend adventure.
This weekend was amazing.
On Friday, Ash and I celebrated the two year anniversary of our first kiss. I was going to take her out to eat, but she kept complaining that her stomach hurt so I figured we'd just stay in or something. A little while later, she came into the living room all dressed up and told me we should at least get nice clothes on to celebrate. So I went and got dressed and then she said she wanted to go for a drive. By this time, I caught on that she had something planned, so I just went along with it. We got into the car and the next thing I knew we were at the Alamo Drafthouse where she had already bought us tickets for Where the Wild Things Are! I was so excited. I had been planning on bringing her to see the next day since MY date had got postponed, but that's okay, because she is the biggest sweetie ever and I love her. We had dinner there (a yummy supreme pizza) and the movie was fantastic. I such at writing movie reviews, so you'll just have to satisfied with my description of it being THE MOST AMAZING MOVIE EVER. Seriously, I had some pretty steep expectations for this movie, and Mr. Spike Jonze pulled it out fabulously. I couldn't have imagined a better tribute to such an inspiring children's book. I loved it. I want to see it again. I can't wait to buy it.
After the movie, we went home and cuddled on the couch and spent the rest of the night just watching TV together. Saturday morning we went on our usual Saturday excursion of feeding feral cats around the neighborhoods by our house (we volunteer for Central Texas Feline Rescue. Came home for a short time and then I took her out to lunch to Chili's where we had some amazing ribs and their delicious White Chocolate Molten Cake. Ended up going to Verizon afterward so I could look at phones (I'd been comparing the EnV Touch and the Samsung Rogue and the BB Storm so I wanted to actually play with them before I bought anything) and then we headed home. Ash had to run to the carwash to get a few things done, but while she did that, I stayed home and cleaned a bit. That night, we went to a party hosted by the founder of Street Cat Rescue and had a blast meeting people (and lots of cats), listening to live music, eating yummy food, and being absolutely impressed by the house we were at (it was beautiful). Stayed longer than we thought we would, but then came home and crashed.
Yesterday was a good day too. We got up and cleaned the house - we washed dishes, did laundry, vacuumed, and then Ash made us our big Sunday breakfast of bacon and eggs and toast. After that we headed to the Verizon store where we met up with her dad, and I finally got moved over to their plan, got a new phone number, and got myself a shiny new Blackberry Storm. It's pretty and perfect and I love it. Anyway, for those of you who want my new phone # - just comment here and I'll give it to you. I finally got rid of my old Duluth number. It'll still work, but that phone will be my dad's now so you'll just get him and not me.
After we split with her dad, we headed over to the Container Store and bought ice cube trays (because I need ice with my Margaritas!) and then spent a good long time looking at absolutely everything else. That's all we bought though. Then we headed to REI and oh man, it was just torture. We've decided that since it's cooler out now, we want to go camping, but we need to find out how Snarf will deal with sleeping in a tent (we know Spunky is fine camping, he loves it). We ended up buying the book Dog's Best Hikes in Texas Hill Country that has some awesome information about trails and camping areas around Austin. We'll start in our backyard and work our way outward. We also ended up signing up for an REI membership since we'll have to go back once we figure out what camping supplies we still need.
We went home after that and then took the dogs to the park where they acted up. It was a short walk since we were tired and didn't want to deal with them being so rowdy. Otherwise it was nice. The rest of the night was us crashed out on the couch, playing with our Blackberries, and dowloading ringtones. Didn't get to bed till late, but it was a really nice way to wrap up a wonderful weekend. I really wish it hadn't ended.
So that was our fantastic 2 Year Anniversary Weekend. Happy 2 years, Sunshine! I love you!

5:07 pm,
i think ranma looks better with black hair.
I don't know what I'm doing with my life right now. Found out the last three months my body was hijacked, which explains my tremendously large gaps of missing memory. I'm in dire need of a therapist and I'm in dire need of understanding why my mind likes to do this to me. It sucks and it's almost ruined the best relationship I've ever been in. Ash is amazing though. I cannot believe that she is still with me, still willing to kiss me in the morning, still willing to give me neck rubs and tell me she loves me. It's crazy, but I am so thankful that she doesn't blame me for everything. She is honestly the most amazing person ever.
In other news. Because I've been so out of it and have lost so much of myself to the recent events that took part in my life, I am attempting to take back who I am and do what makes me happy and do what I feel defines me as an individual person. With that in mind, I signed up for this:

I'm actually getting really excited for it. Ash and I have had a script going for a comic for awhile, and I've had all the characters drawn out, but I haven't had the motivation to actually start getting it going. I'm hoping that this will be the final push. I'm crossing my fingers that this is going to work and make me feel better. And make me feel more like myself again.
Other parts of my life are going well. I love my job more than I can say. I just got over a really yucky flu bug and it's crazy how supportive my co-workers have been. I'm good at my job and I'm constantly being told that I'm good at it. I love that feeling of knowing that I'm actually awesome at what I do for a living. It's a great feeling. The house has come together and Ash and I had our first dinner guest come over and watch a movie (it was her dad, but it was still awesome to show off what we've accomplished in our house). The animals are all good, even if absolutely crazy. Snarf and Spunky love the backyard, and the cats love the windows. We now have five more rats since the last time I posted bring our total up to eight rats. But I don't feel guilty about bringing in more animals since they were destined to be snake food and we couldn't let that happen.
Ash and I are trying to go more healthy. A lot of what we buy is organic, but now we're trying to get healthy. Okay, to be honest, I'M trying to be healthy since she's already way ahead of me in that department. I want to lose a bit of weight so I want to get back into my Wii Fit workout and eat healthier (or just not eat as much). Since I've been so stressed lately, I tend to eat too much and that's starting to show so I know I need to do something before it gets out of hand. Having body issues on top of my identity issues doesn't help anything, but I'm going to get through it. There's nothing else I can do.
Alright, I'm going to go work on the story behind the comic and spend some time with Ash who's being cute and watching Supernanny. I can't believe we're coming up to our two year anniversary. Two Years. Wow.
I'm so lucky.

8:48 am,
sleepy. and i want sushi, dammit.
Oh so tired. We picked up Mac from the airport at 10 last night and I didn't get to bed until well after midnight. Don't you like how I start out my posts as if you totally know what I'm talking about?
Our friend Mac flew down to visit us for a week so I'm taking work off tomorrow to spend some time with her and Ash. This weekend is Barktoberfest and the Pecan Festival. Tomorrow we may or may not go to the zoo, it depends on what Mac wants. I do know we'll be getting lots of good food though. Excited.
Work is good. Better than good. I get up at get to work before 8 almost every morning and I tend to stay late since I get so wrapped up in what I'm doing - I'm generally walking through the door at home at about 6 or 6:30. Unfortunately, I haven't had a lot of time for my own personal clients so I've been sending apology after apology in hopes that they forgive me. One client is really cool and is more worried about me catching my breath than finishing the site. My DC clients rock.
Austin is wonderful. It has finally started raining and boy did we need it. Finally we're seeing some green. Last night it got down to 58 and I was actually cold. Crazy.
Other than that, not much is new. Ash has started doing TNR volunteer work which is pretty awesome. They trap feral cats, spay and neuter them, give them rabies shots and check ups, and then release them again. She's enjoying it and helping save the world. I'm so proud of her.
Back to work.

3:51 pm,
Some silliness.
Ash: *tries to zip up zipper on pants and can't* Nikki, help!
Nikki: *tries* Why is the zipper stuck? *kneels on the floor in front of Ash to try again*
Ash: *giggles*
Nikki: Oh shut up, I couldn't get at it at that angle. *cracks up*
Ash: *giggling some more* That didn't make it any better...
In the end, I fixed the zipper.

12:50 pm,
quick update for those of you patiently waiting.
A quick summary of where my life is at right now.
- Finally in Austin, TX. We have a 3 bed, 2 bathroom duplex with a giant yard for the dogs.
- Yes, dogs. We have Spunky, of course, and now we also have a male schnauzer mix puppy Ash found on the side of the road a couple months ago.
- We also have five cats now - but two are Mac's. We're just babysitting.
- I am a full-time web designer for a company called Affiniscape. I create template and custom designs for associations and non-profits and sometimes redesign logos for them. I seriously love my job to pieces - it's pretty much the highlight of my life right now. I fit in well, get along with everyone, and I feel appreciate everyday. I actually feel like I'm good at something.
- Ash and I are currently going through some rough patches but we're working on them. She's still my Sunshine.
- Have I mentioned that I love my job? Like whoa.
- Did I mention that I make +$40,000 at my new job? Yes, yes I do. I didn't even go to college for this stuff.
- Drawing again. We set up my office/studio and now all I want to do when I'm home is listen to Owl City and paint and draw and be artsy. It makes me happy.
- Mac is visiting in two weeks so we're desperately trying to get the house set up. We still have lots of unpacking and moving and stuff, but at least it's now all in the house.
- It's hot. Seriously hot.
- I love my new job.
The end.

.back in the days.
.forward a few moments.
